We believe food and wine are best paired with dear friends and family with great conversation around the table. The best wine is that which you feel passionately about. Those wines that grab you...mark the occasion and end up embossed in that memory. And to pair it with great food that is grown here in the valley where the grapes that you are drinking are grown, just adds another level to living in Napa. Living here, you meet the best of the best in the wine industry. It is our hope that they will also show you the best that Napa has to offer.
Recently, my sister inquired as to how we created the name “Napa Kitchen Witch”…I never told her that it ties back to our childhood!
For as long as I can remember, my mother was always in the kitchen cooking, not just for our family but for others. Whether in celebration or to help aid an illness, mom always comforted and healed loved ones with her food, and still does to this day. For us, a Kitchen Witch is someone who creates a little magic in the kitchen to help others.
In cultures around the world, you will find a kitchen witch talisman in the heart of the home, warding off evil spirits and providing good kitchen karma. In this spirit, Napa Kitchen Witch was born as a way to celebrate and help the people that we love. Inspired by my Momma, the Door County Kitchen Witch, we hope that Napa Kitchen Witch will move you to share a little magic from your kitchen as well.
Food has a special ability to bring people together. I often find this in my own life, and I hope you will find that this online community feels just as welcoming as a real kitchen. The hope is to share recipes inspired by Napa-the food and the wine grown here being the stars, of course. But it is also to highlight amazing recipes from Napa wineries, chefs, and home-grown culinary wizards. Napa seems to inspire chefs all around the world and we welcome all "Napa inspired" recipes!
The heart and soul of Napa is its grape growing. Mother Nature imparted a little extra magic to this Valley and everything grows well here, particularly grapes. Everyone has their own opinion of what the BEST wine is. But, truly, the best wines are those that you connect with. That make you stop and think, make you reconsider a varietal that you thought you hated (cough, Merlot, cough, Chardonnay), and help you discover they are not what you had expected. This is a place to discover new wineries, new experiences, and above all, new wine. We welcome everyone, especially those with an open mind and a true love of Napa.
